The actor who brought Billy Casper to life in the classic British film Kes is returning to Wigan for one final visit.
David Bradley will appear at Grant’s Bulldog Forge on Darlington Street East on Sunday, August 23, as the award-winning independent store celebrates its seventh birthday.
It will be his third visit to the Forge and organisers say it will be his last. David starred as Billy Casper in Ken Loach’s acclaimed 1969 film Kes. The coming-of-age drama has become one of Britain’s most celebrated films and remains a favourite with generations of cinema fans.
Visitors will be able to meet Bradley between 10am and 3pm. Admission is free.
The Forge is also giving five people the chance to enjoy breakfast with the actor, and each winner can bring a guest and hear Bradley share stories from the making of Kes. To enter, people need to like and share the competition post on Facebook, tag two friends and comment: “OI CASPER.”
The actor’s appearance is part of a packed programme marking the Forge’s seventh birthday.
Working with CJS Heritage Engineering, the business is hosting a heritage day featuring steam engines, vintage buses, classic scooters and classic vehicles.Owners of British Bulldogs are also being invited to bring their dogs along. The Forge and its café are dog friendly, and every four-legged visitor will receive a treat.
Grant’s Bulldog Forge has built a strong reputation for its community events and has become one of Wigan’s best-known independent businesses.
The celebrations take place on Sunday, August 23, from 10am until 3pm, at Grant’s Bulldog Forge, Darlington Street East, Wigan. Entry is free.
