Sing your heart out at Standish’s Unity Club theatre night in aid of local causes

Music lovers across Wigan are being invited to swap quiet humming for full-on showstoppers at a special community singalong event this May.

 

Hosted by the Rotary Club of Wigan, the evening promises a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where guests are encouraged to sing along to some of the most loved songs from musical theatre, no experience required.

 

Taking place on Saturday 9th May at the Unity Club, the concert will begin at 7.30pm and is open to anyone who enjoys a good tune, whether you are a shower singer, a car singer, or simply enjoy musicals.

 

A full song sheet will be provided, allowing attendees to join in with classics from shows including Carousel, The Sound of Music, Oliver!, Les Misérables, Cats and Mamma Mia!.

 

The singalong will be led by students from TMP College in Wigan, who will help guide the audience through the evening.

Joanne Taylor, Head of Personal Development at TMP College, said:


“We are delighted to join with Wigan Rotary Club in this concert which promises to be a great evening. The students are looking forward to the opportunity to perform in a live setting and help everyone join in the singing of some memorable tunes.”

 

Leading the evening musically will be Heather Hartley, President of the Rotary Club, who will accompany the singing on piano. She said:


“The evening will give people the opportunity to let their hair down and sing songs that I am sure they will know.”

 

Tickets are priced at £10 and are available via the Rotary Club’s website here. 

 

All proceeds from the event will go into the club’s charity fund, supporting a range of local causes.

 

The Rotary Club is part of a global network of volunteers who work to support communities through fundraising, events and practical projects, with Wigan’s branch regularly helping local initiatives and charities across the borough.
