Wigan Comic Con 2025 Brings Colour, Celebrities, and Community Spirit to Robin Park
Robin Park Sports and Tennis Centre was transformed into a hub of colour, cosplay and smiles on Saturday, August 23, 2025, as Wigan Comic Con returned for another spectacular summer edition.
The event drew hundreds of people dressed as their favourite characters, alongside a stellar line-up of celebrity guests, traders, and attractions, making it one of the standout Wigan events of the year.
First time at a Comic Con
This was my first time at any Comic Con event, and absolutely I loved it.
The atmosphere was buzzing, and happy. and the costumes, wow! I lost count of the number of people I stopped to tell them how fabulous they looked. Just outstanding.
The big thing for me though, was how happy everyone was, loving life and free to be who they wanted to be, really joyous to see that.
As a Star Wars nerd, I was a bit gutted there was no Darth Vader, but plenty of other Star Wars characters there, and I was treated to a brilliant light sabre duel. I WILL be going back to the next one, and may even bring out my Princess Leia outfit.
A Haven for Independent Traders
Independent businesses were out in force, offering everything from rare comics and collectibles to handmade crafts, artwork, and cosplay props.
For many people, it was the perfect opportunity to pick up unique gifts while supporting local traders—a reminder that events like Comic Con help boost the local economy as well as community spirit.
A Star-Studded Day in Wigan
The convention featured a strong line-up of special guests, including Peter Purves, beloved for his role in Doctor Who before he became a Blue Peter presenter; Colin Baker, former Dr Who, Hattie Hayridge from Red Dwarf, Jon Davey, from Dr Who, Amelie Leroy, from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and The Bill actor Andrew Lancel.
Fans had the chance to take part in photo opportunities, autograph sessions, and lively Q&A panels where the guests shared behind-the-scenes stories and insights.
Supporting Good Causes
Comic Con isn’t just about fun – it’s also about giving back. This year’s event raised funds for Make-A-Wish UK through its hugely popular cosplay competition, hosted by The Heroic Alliance.
The Make a Wish UK charity grants life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses.
Meanwhile, the 5th Legion Star Wars group added a galactic touch to the day while supporting Guide Dogs UK, posing for photos and engaging with fans.
Organiser’s Heartfelt Thanks
Following the event, organiser Peta Prescott took to social media to thank everyone involved, to everyone who attended, to all the volunteers, venue staff, traders, and fans who contributed to the success of the day.
"It's all you combined that makes this event what it is, bringing the smiles, positivity and giving it a great vibe. Thank you to all of our guests… they loved the atmosphere and how friendly you all were. You did us proud, Wigan!”
Highlights That Made the Day
Incredible Cosplay: From superheroes to anime favourites, the creativity on display was outstanding.
Show-Stopping Displays: Hulkbuster and Optimus Prime models wowed the crowds, thanks to CPM Entertainers.
Retro Gaming Zone: Courtesy of Retro Events and Northwest Computer Museum, bringing nostalgic fun for gamers of all ages.
The atmosphere throughout the day was electric—full of laughter, creativity, and the shared love of pop culture.
What’s Next for Wigan Comic Con?
The good news is that the fun doesn’t stop here. Organisers have confirmed that Wigan Comic Con Winter will return on Saturday, February 7, 2026, once again at Robin Park Sports and Tennis Centre.
The winter event promises another exciting line-up of guests, competitions, and family-friendly entertainment.
