An unbeaten boxer. A full-time plasterer. A dream that’s been years in the making.
By all accounts, Owen Anderton isn’t one for shouting about his achievements. So his girlfriend, Hannah, got in touch to do the shouting for him.
Ahead of his next fight at Wigan’s Robin Park Arena, here’s Owen’s story through the eyes of someone who’s been there every step of the way.
In Hannah’s own words:
I wanted to share the story of my boyfriend, Owen Anderton, who is a professional boxer with Blundell’s Gym and will be fighting in our hometown at Robin Park Arena on 15 August 2026.
Owen is just 22 years old and competes in the middleweight division. He currently holds an impressive professional record of eight wins, one draw and no losses.
What many people don’t see is the amount of hard work and dedication that goes into achieving that record. Alongside his boxing career, Owen works full-time as a plasterer to help support his dream – a dream he has been chasing since he was 14 years old.
While most people know him as a hardworking tradesman, underneath the plastering gear is a talented young boxer who trains relentlessly, sometimes twice a day, while balancing the demands of a full-time job.
Owen is one of the kindest people I know. He’s quiet, humble and would do anything for anyone. The one thing he doesn’t do very well is talk about his own achievements or promote himself, which is why I wanted to tell his story.
Professional boxing at small hall shows can be challenging. Fighters are often responsible for selling their own tickets while continuing to train and work, making every fight night a huge team effort involving family, friends, sponsors and supporters.
Owen is currently sponsored by Life Changing Education Ltd, Lee Davies Chief and ADP Environmental Services, and we’re incredibly grateful for their support.
His next fight takes place at Robin Park Arena on 15 August, and tickets are priced at £60.
Me and my lovely friend Lexie, girlfriend of professional boxer Billy Hervey, have been out round Wigan town centre handing out hand made flyers to local business’, pubs, cafes and shops, to raise awareness, as we really want the whole town to get behind him.
Billy is also fighting at Robin Park on the same date, so it should be a really good night, for boxing, and for Wigan.
As a family, we’re proud of everything Owen has achieved so far and would love to see the local community get behind one of Wigan’s own as he continues his unbeaten professional journey.
