Noah-Mae, 6, takes on 100-mile cycling challenge for St John’s in Pemberton

Noah-Mae

I love it when people get in touch to tell me about all the amazing things they’re doing, and how about this?

Six-year-old Noah-Mae, from Worsley Hall, has set herself a huge cycling challenge to raise money for her school, and she’s already completed one seriously impressive ride.

Her very proud mum, Megan, got in touch to tell me all about it.

Here’s their story…

Megan told me that Noah-Mae has recently become really enthusiastic about riding her bike and, after cycling just under 45 miles over two weeks, decided she wanted to set herself a much bigger challenge, 100 miles.

And this was completely Noah-Mae’s own idea.

She decided she wanted to use her challenge to raise money for St. John’s Primary School in Pemberton, with the money going towards new play equipment for children to use at break and dinner times.

On Friday, Noah-Mae made an impressive start to her challenge, riding more than 20 miles all the way from Wigan to Southport.

Megan got in touch with an update as the pair were on the train back to Wigan, and even then Noah-Mae’s day wasn’t quite over, as she still had another three-mile bike ride to get home!

And if you want to know why she’s doing it, Noah-Mae explains it best herself. She wrote on her fundraising page:

“Hi, I’m Noah-Mae!

“I’m 6 years old and I love riding my bike! I decided that I wanted to do something to help my school, St. John’s Primary, so I’m going to ride my bike 100 miles to raise money for new play equipment for the children to use at break and dinner times.

“I’ve already ridden nearly 45 miles, so now I’m going to try and reach 100!

“I’m really excited to do my challenge and hopefully raise lots of money for my school. I want the children at my school to have some new things to play with and have fun with at playtime.

“If you would like to sponsor me, I would be really happy and grateful. Every penny will help me get closer to my goal!

“Mummy will be helping me with my challenge and making sure I’m safe while I ride.

“Thank you for helping me!”

Noah-Mae will continue her challenge over the coming weeks as she works towards that 100-mile target.

If you’d like to support her, you can donate to Noah-Mae’s GoFundMe fundraiser, with all the money raised going towards new play equipment for St. John’s.

Well done, Noah-Mae, what a brilliant thing to do!
