A Wigan gym is celebrating after one of its fighters was crowned Cage Warriors Lightweight World Champion.
Ieuan Davies, who trains at Fighter Blueprint Academy, won the world title at Cage Warriors 207 in Manchester, becoming champion of Europe’s leading MMA promotion and taking a major step towards a future in the UFC.
The unbeaten fighter defeated reigning champion Omiel Brown in the main event, with thousands watching inside the BEC Arena and many more tuning in around the world on UFC Fight Pass.
Davies has trained under head coach Tom Blackledge at Fighter Blueprint Academy for more than a decade. After leaving a military career and moving from Wrexham to Wigan to pursue mixed martial arts full-time, he has developed into one of the UK’s most highly-rated prospects.
His title win marks a significant milestone not only for Davies, but also for Fighter Blueprint Academy, which has built a reputation as one of the UK’s leading MMA and martial arts gyms.
