Wigan’s new STACK venue reveals first look as street food trader search begins
Computer generated images showing what Wigan’s new STACK venue will look like have been released as the company starts looking for independent street food businesses to join the development before it opens later this year.
STACK is taking over the former Debenhams store in Grand Arcade, where it will bring together street food, bars and live entertainment under one roof. The company already has venues across the North East and has expanded into other towns and cities in recent years.
The Wigan venue will feature six street food kitchens, five bars, a coffee shop, an outdoor terrace, a stage for live music and events, large screens for sport and a dedicated pool table area. One of the food units has already been taken by ZZA Pizzeria, with applications now open for the remaining five.
Gemma Dishman, Director of Strategy and Development at STACK, said the company is looking for a good mix of traders offering different types of food. She said: “It’s important that there’s variety across the line-up, with each trader bringing something different, so customers have plenty of choice without too much overlap.”
STACK says it wants to work with both established businesses and local independent traders.
Mike Matthews, Centre Manager at Grand Arcade, said the opening of STACK would bring something new to the shopping centre and Wigan town centre.
He said: “We’re really pleased to be working with STACK to bring this exciting new leisure destination to Grand Arcade.
“STACK will add a completely new dimension to the shopping centre, complementing our existing retail offer and creating more reasons for people to spend time in the town centre throughout the day and into the evening.”
Applications for the remaining food units close on 21 July.
