Hello August! Lots going on around Wigan including Pride celebrating its tenth year here, a Teddy Bear Hunt at Haigh Woodland Park, and lots of free stuff going on at some of our parks.

28 Jul – 3 Aug: Be Well Love Parks Week Activities – FREE sport and fitness sessions across various parks including Mesnes Park, Haigh Woodland, Jubilee Park, Pennington Park. The activities include Pickle Ball, Pilates, Tennis, Bowls, Tai Chi, Cycling and much more. Full details here.
1 August (Friday) Charity Rock Night at The Old Courts raising money for the multiple sclerosis charity MS-UK. If you miss Maximes Rock Nights, especially the 90’s – 00’s flavour then this is for you. Tickets are £10 via Eventbrite. Book here.
3 Aug (Sun): Memory Walk for Alzheimer’s Society – Haigh Woodland Park- details here.
6 August (Weds) ‘Play Day’ in Mesnes Park, Wigan. FREE event from 12pm – 3pm, celebrating every child’s right to play. Let’s Shape Our Creativity will be holding a free arts and crafts workshop under the bandstand too. More details here.
8 Aug (Friday) The Early Doors Club at Hindley Social Club – The Real People. The innovative Early Doors Club is coming to Hindley, and newest venue is being launched with a rare, intimate performance from none other than The Real People. Pay what you can tickets. More details here.
10 Aug (Sun): Teddy Bear Hunt Walk – Family charity event hosted by Daffodils Dreams – Haigh Woodland Park. £10 per person / £30 for a family of 4. includes breakfast bap before walk and buffet on return. More details here.
10 Aug (Sun): Table top car boot sale and charity fun day for Emergency & Armed Services- Golborne Parkside Sports & Community Club. Live music, amusements. bouncy castle, face painting, indoor bowling and much more, and children being urged to dress up as superheroes. Family of 4 – £6, Under 12s – £1.50, over 12s – £2. 10 Aug (Sun): Record Fair, The Beer Hangar, Arch 6, Wigan- FREE entry. Wigan’s newest record fair offers a large selection of vinyl, to buy or to play, from sellers from up and down the country, along with turntables set up on the stage. More info on their Facebook page here.
12 August (Tuesday) Wine and Cheese Tasting evening, Wigan Central. Prosecco on arrival, 3 white, 2 rose, 3 red, Port to round the night off, all with paired cheese. Starts 7:30pm, £30 per person. More info here. Wigan Central also has live music every Sunday from 2:30pm.
16 Aug (Saturday) Wigan Pride, Wigan town centre – FREE. It’s a big one this year, Wigan Pride is celebrating its TENTH year. There’ll be a parade, music, lots of smiles and fun. So grab your glitter and best smile and head into town for a festival vibe and fun. Free to attend, no tickets needed, just bring yourself and good vibes. 11am – 6pm. More info here.
16 Aug (Saturday): Rock and Wheels Summer Bash, St Patrick’s Rugby Club. A day to raise money for Breast Cancer Support and Andy’s Man Club. Axe throwing, Strongman contest, bike show, stalls, rugby matches, food, live music from 6pm, and much more. 10am – 8pm. More info here.
16 Aug (Saturday) The Big Summer Dab, Pemberton. Bingo fans, grab your dabbers for a night of wild prizes as Banders Bingo hold their annual summer event at Pemberton band room. 17 Aug (Sun): Picnic Brass – Haigh Woodland Park. Live brass music with a picnic atmosphere. This summer favourite is back for the eighth year, with performances by some of best Brass Bands in the local area. A great family afternoon. 17 Aug (Sun): Artisan Market – Haigh Woodland Park. Local food and crafts, free entry, car park charges apply. More details here.
Every Sat: Haigh Woodland Parkrun – Free weekly 5k run/walk – Haigh Woodland Park. Beginner. Social Runner or Walker. Everyone welcome. Run starts 9am, briefing 8:45am. Register here.
22 Aug (Friday) Mamma Mia, Here we go again at Haigh Hall. Dance the night away in the courtyard with Abba Tribute band Mamma Mania at Haigh Hall. 6-pm -10pm. Tickets £11. Parking available on site (you need to pay for parking). To book click here.
23 Aug (Saturday) Wigan Comic Con Summer 2025, Robin Park Sports Centre. A fun, family themed comic con 9/10 tv film or Sci fi related guests Character meet and greets, 10am -4pm. Ticket prices from £7.21. Dr Who star Colin Baker is this year’s star attraction. Book here.

29 Aug (Fri): Foodie Friday – Haigh. Street food, DJs and free admission, the legendary Foodie Friday is held the last Friday of every month and sees a variety of street food traders to choose from, and live music. Car park charges apply. More details here.
30 Aug (Sat): Proms in the Park, Mesnes Park, Wigan – Brass band and fireworks. 6pm -10pm. Ticket prices: child 5-15 £9.50, adults (16+) £12.50, and VIP package £50 (includes afternoon tea and prosecco). Full details here.
