Dean Trust Wigan (formerly Abraham Guest) in Orrell is preparing for an inspiring 24-hour charity challenge as students and staff take on this year’s Race to Uganda fundraiser.
The event begins at 12pm on Wednesday 17th December and runs through to 12pm on Thursday 18th December, with the whole school community running, cycling, rowing and walking as they aim to collectively cover the 6,511-mile distance from Wigan to Uganda. Every student will also complete a one-mile walk with their form groups during the school day.

Students will also be based in the foyer at Asda, Robin Park, running and cycling to raise awareness and encourage donations. Shoppers are invited to pop by and show their support.
Last year’s event, Race to the North Pole, raised £3,500 and the school hopes to exceed that amount this year.
This year’s fundraiser will support a mix of international and local charities, including Seeds of Hope, which provides clean water and hygiene training in the Kebale District of South West Uganda, as well as Wigan based organisations Daffodils Dreams, Fur Clemt, the Storehouse Project, and Mission Christmas.
These charities work with vulnerable families both in Wigan and overseas, providing essential support and resources.
