Graves desecrated and historic windows damaged at church in Abram
Police have described the desecration of graves and damage to historic church windows at St John’s Church in Abram as “completely unacceptable and deeply upsetting”.
Officers are appealing for information after three separate acts of criminal damage at the church. Two of the incidents involved damage to historic windows, which police say are irreplaceable. At least six graves within the churchyard were also desecrated.
The latest damage is believed to have happened between 1am and 3am on Tuesday, June 9. Police say they have CCTV footage of the suspected offenders and are following a number of leads.
The force is now asking anyone who saw anything suspicious around the church, or who may know who was responsible, to get in touch.
Officers have also asked parents or guardians whether they know where their children were during the early hours when the damage took place.
In their appeal, police said: “This behaviour is completely unacceptable and deeply upsetting to our local community.”
